Prototypical Widget Library
Practicum
About This Topic
This topic is focused on personalized UI implementation on Unity 3D for AR/VR environment. Effective UI implementation has been a challenging problem for researchers and developers for AR/VR systems. The specific task for this topic is to build a Prototypical Widget Library as a tool to enable developers, or even end users, to easily build their own UIs reflecting their preference and application domain. The Widget Library will provide personalized, task-adaptive menu system to the users by allowing them to create/edit their own menu.
3D Object Selection/Manipulation, Information Exploration, and collaboration within shared AR/VR space could be considered as a target application domain of the implemented Widget Library for personalized UIs. The Widget Library will be evaluated to see how different environment setup (VR/AR) with different controllers could lead different menu type/layout by the users. It is a part of research cooperation between TUWien and DAQRI, so findings throughout the research are relevant to both; academia and industry.
We are looking for a highly motivated student who has a background in programming and computer graphics and is interested in 3D UIs, AR/VR.
