I am an associate professor at Vienna University of Technology and directing a research group on Image and Video Analysis & Synthesis. After obtaining the PhD degree (1997) from Graz University of Technology, Austria, I spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher with the Radar Interferometry Group at Stanford University. I joined TU Vienna in 2001 and built up our group's research focus on stereo analysis, image matting, and other video analysis techniques with an emphasis on 3D video/film applications.

Our group has set up and maintains a web-based evaluation system for image matting algorithms ( Our recent stereo work has dealt with fast cost volume filtering and an evaluation of adaptive support weight techniques. To get an overview of our ongoing research activities, please take a look at our projects.
