Intelligent Workflow Design for Low-Cost 3D Film Production

Research project in the area of Image and Video Analysis & Synthesis.

Keywords: Computer Vision, 3D film, Stereo.

About this Project

Goal of Hyperion3D is the development of an intelligent and cost-efficient workflow for producing 3D film content for stereoscopic and multi-view 3D displays. On the production side, a system consisting of two assistant cameras "accompanies" the main camera during recording and enables the generation of (i) depth and (ii) auxiliary color image information. On the post-production side, this information will enable high-quality conversion of the recorded 2D footage from the main camera into high-quality stereoscopic and multi-view 3D content. Compared to traditional stereoscopic workflows based on two large main cameras, a workflow that strongly reduces production costs and supports the 3D content creation in the post-production stage in a flexible way is anticipated.
